Last week I gained my Diploma in Indian Head Massage. I am really looking forward to offering this to clients as it is a great treatment and one that can be extremely beneficial for headache, migraine, sinusitis and neck pain sufferers.
It is a traditional massage that has been around for over 4,000 years and was originally it was used to improve scalp and hair condition however the benefits are further reaching than this.
It is a deeply relaxing treatment that works to alleviate muscular tension in the neck, shoulders, head, face and upper arms. In doing so the impact that it has to reduce headaches, migraines, eye strain, sinusitis and neck pain is invaluable. Overall it promotes blood and oxygen flow to the upper body and people find that they have improved mood state, mental clarity and sense of well-being.
Due to how this massage can be applied it is ideal for those who are unable to lay on a massage couch as it can be a fully seated treatment.
Life is generally busy and hectic for everyone these days and as a result we hold tension in our shoulders and neck. The knock on effect of this can be headaches, migraines and stress which can all lead to anxiety and depression. By working on the areas of tension and alleviating it, the nervous system has time to calm down relax. During treatment acupressure points are also worked on to reduce eye pain/tension, sinus issues and tension caused through jaw clenching or teeth grinding.
